Programs and Resources

We plan a daily schedule and follow it consistently to help make the children feel secure and independent. Activities include:

  • active and quiet times
  • large group & small group activities
  • time to play alone & with others
  • indoor & outdoor experiences
  • self-selected activities & teacher directed activities

Classrooms are designed to help children learn from their environment with:

  • Well-defined interest centers including blocks, home center, books, puzzles, science, sand and water play, manipulatives, and art activities.
  • Materials that enhance learning in all subject areas such as math, science, reading, writing, language arts, music, art and movement so that whenever the children choose to play, they are learning.
  • Everything placed within "their reach," so the children are able to do things for themselves to gain confidence and independence.

Chapel: An important part of our Christian curriculum, we gather as a school for several special chapel or worship celebrations throughout the year. Parents are invited to attend and participate in these meaningful celebrations.

Music, Movement: At Weekday School, music and movement are incorporated into daily classroom experiences. Additionally, we have supplementary teachers who specialize in teaching music (2, 3, 4 day students) and movement (3, 4 day students) in a weekly class. Classroom teachers escort their children to music and/or movement and provide additional supervision and support during these experiences.

Woodworking: Four day students have the opportunity to visit our Woodworking Room to explore woodworking tools and create unique projects under the careful supervision of parent volunteers.

Speech, Occupational and Behavioral Therapy: The Weekday School offers speech and developmental screening opportunities in the fall of each year as a convenient resource for parents. There is a nominal fee for this optional screening. In addition, the Weekday School contracts with an occupation therapist, speech therapist, and behavior therapist to provide on-site services for qualifying Weekday School children.

Fun Fridays: Fun Fridays are enrichment days for students held on Fridays (9am - 12pm) during the school year.

  • Fun Friday is offered for 2 Day and 3 Day (M/W/Th) students every Friday that school is in session.  Led by Beth Rossi, Fun Friday 2 & 3 will include sensory fun, art exploration, stories, music and movement.
  • Fun Friday for 4 Day students is led by Marci Rubio and will focus on S.T.E.A.M: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Fun Fridays for our 4 Day students is offered every Friday that school is in session.

Early Care and Extended Day: Children enrolled in the Weekday School are eligible for early care and extended day programs.

Early Care hours are from 7:50 – 9:00 a.m. for students on the days they attend school. The daily schedule includes free choice play with toys, puzzles, manipulatives, or coloring supplies. Visits to the indoor or outdoor playgrounds are often a part of the Early Care program.

Extended Day is an after-school program available for students on the days they attend school. Students enrolled in Fun Fridays may also sign up for extended day on those days. The daily schedule includes a circle time, free choice center play, lunch (sent from home) and playground time. Enrichment activites such as science and Spanish are offered each week during Extended Day. Extended day hours are from 12:00 to 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. Carpool pick-up is provided.
