Welcome to the first installment of our monthly newsletter for the 2016-17 school year. I recognize that you have access to massive amounts of advice, tips, and information about parenting. My hunch is that this can feel very overwhelming and intimidating. Am I right?
The purpose of this newsletter is to keep things simple. To encourage you to enjoy your preschooler. To remind you that you are not alone. To invite you to relax a wee bit. In the words of Kristen Burden (WDS Advisory Board Chair),“It’s preschool, not Princeton.” Amen.
Allow me to give you a tour of our newsletter features.
Faith and Family, written by Grace Brown (WDS Advisory Board Member), is designed to connect what we know and believe about God with the everyday reality of parenting young children. Thank you, Grace, for sharing your heart with us. Preschool P.O.V. will help you understand your child’s point of view as it relates to learning and what you can do to support growth and development. Think of it as a mini-class in early childhood education. Speaking of point of view, I know how important school safety is to parents. The Safety Zone will keep you in the loop about this important topic as it relates to our campus. Finally, we love BABIES! Each month we announce the births of WDS siblings. Please share your bundles of joy with us.
But wait...there’s more. (That sounds like a infomercial)
In addition to this newsletter, you can expect to receive weekly email communication from your child’s teacher featuring pictures and sometimes videos of what is happening in the classroom. We know this is communication you care most about. Insider tip: Teachers love when parents comment or respond back to these emails. I encourage you to chime in!
Please know how thankful we (WDS teachers and staff) are for the start of a new school year. It is a privilege to partner with you and to build a relationship with your child. We can’t wait to see you!
In Him,
