Weekday School is a Christian preschool serving children ages 2 1/2 to 5 years.  Our school is known for its committed teaching staff, play-based learning environment, and personalized focus on each child. Small class sizes and a strong network of parent volunteers ensure that the Weekday School is an ideal place for young children to grow and learn.

Hello, Weekday School Parents!

Welcome to the first newsletter of the 2019-20 school year. The goal of this space is to provide encouragement and helpful information about the preschool years. You are the expert on your child. We have expertise in how preschoolers learn and grow. Together, we make an incredible team!

I’ll also use this newsletter to highlight events and other to-dos as we move through the year. There’s a lot to catch you up on as we start the year. So here we go...

  • Lobby Renovation: The Christ School has completed a dramatic renovation of the first floor lobby. The new lobby has added security features and aesthetic appeal that benefit both schools. Please be aware that all visitors (including parents) who want to go beyond the outer lobby (past the new glass partition) during a non-carpool time will need to scan their license and receive a visitor tag.

  • Prayer Walk: You’re invited to join us for our Prayer Walk on Wednesday, August 14 from 10:00-10:30 am under the Angel Wing (the space under the white canopy outside of our school). This is an annual tradition where staff, parents, and children gather for a brief devotion and prayer followed by a self-guided walk through the halls of Weekday School to pray over classrooms and the people who will occupy them.

  • Water Bottles: New this year! We are asking you to send a labeled, sweat-proof water bottle to school each day with your child. Water bottles will be used in the classroom and on the playground and returned home in school bags each day.

  • Your Carpool Number: You will receive a carpool sign at Meet the Teacher. Security has requested that you display your carpool number in the morning and afternoon carpool lines. This helps the security guard at Jackson Street know who is authorized to be driving through the carpool during this transition time. Thank you for abiding by this request and helping to keep our campus safe for young children!

  • Fun Fair Informational Meeting: If you want to get plugged in at Weekday School, helping with our fall fundraiser is a great way to do it. You’re invited to the Informational Meeting on Thursday, August 29th right after morning drop-off to find out more. Email Karen Evans, WDS Events Coordinator ( for details or questions

  • Early Care/Extended Day Coordinator: Elisa Quijada, mom to Amelia, is our new Coordinator for these important programs. She is the person to email ( to see if there is room in Extended Day (or Early Care!) for your child on a particular day. Keep in mind that 24 hours notice is required. We’re so excited to have her on our team.

  • Openings in our Fun Friday program: If your child is in 2 Day, Mrs. Lee or Mrs. Rinka’s 3 Day classes, or 4 Day, we have openings in Fun Fridays for these age groups starting in September. If you’d like your child to stay a Friday or two, email Vicki Rutledge (

  • New School Year is a great time to make church a priority. We'd love to have your family join us on a Sunday. It's another way to connect with WDS friends & families. Here are the details: Visit FPCO Moms, here's an evening Bible study for women starting in September that you are invited to join: Women's Bible Study Intensive: Come Follow Me.

As we begin our year together, please know how honored we are to get to know you and your child. Preschool is a tender, magical phase of life. Your child is wonderfully and uniquely knit together by a loving Creator God. We anticipate a delightful year of learning and growing together.

“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, ‘Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.’” Matthew 18:1-5

In Christ,
